job progress

it has been a long and sometimes painful job search, but it is over for now. i was offered and accepted a position at ------- today. it isn't the highest paying job, but i did push them for more pay and they gave me an extra .75 per hour. i think i am going to get about 30 hrs a week there so combine that with huntington i should be right around 40 hrs. (at least i hope so) i will be working in the shipping and receiving for part of the day and then moving to the furniture department to finish my shift. the only real bummer is that it starts at 6 am. so i am off to experience my first retail job. who knows maybe they will really like me and what to promote me to a manager spot. best of all i get an employee discount now!! i bet it works at -------- too!!

Yay! I'm glad you posted. I was getting worried. Alot of people will tell you the secret to retail success is "the customer is always right." I disagree. The secret to retail success is finding out how the company makes money and helping them make more. Do that and they'd have to be stupid not to make you a manager.

Thanks for the update! I had to chuckle when I saw that you had to be at work at 6:00 a.m. Have a good time with that! But really, congrats on the new job.

That employee discount makes the low pay worth it, I think. I used it a lot on clearance items when I worked at ShopKo.

due to policy rules at the job i currently blogged about, i cannot say exactly where i work. strange rule, but hey i gotta follow it right?

Well, people have done stupid things--and one of them is to badmouth their boss on their blog...so now I guess companies have to cover their butts. Understandable, but very corporate.
